"JCI Roxas" refers to the local organizations of JCI Philippines based in Roxas City, Capiz. The city has more than one chapter, including JCI Roxas Makawiwili, JCI Roxas Sinadya and JCI Roxas Halaran, and nearby JCI Panitan Tumandok serves the town of Panitan. Each chapter runs its own projects and elects its own officers, but they often train, recruit and induct members together.

JCI, or Junior Chamber International, is a global network of young active citizens aged 18 to 40. If you are new to it, start with what JCI means. This guide explains how JCI works in Roxas City and Capiz, and how to find the chapter that fits you.

Why Roxas City has more than one JCI chapter

In JCI, a city can have several local organizations. New chapters usually start with help from an existing one, called the sponsoring chapter, which guides the new group until JCI Philippines approves its affiliation. Chapters that share a sponsor often call each other mother and daughter chapters.

Having several chapters in one city lets each one build its own identity. Each has its own membership focus and its own favorite causes. Members still meet often, because chapters in the same area co-host projects and share trainings.

The JCI chapters in Roxas City and Capiz

JCI Roxas Makawiwili

JCI Roxas Makawiwili has held more than 25 induction ceremonies, making it one of the oldest active chapters in the city. It sponsored JCI Roxas Halaran's affiliation in 2023, and our members call it our "mother chapter." It co-hosts many of the city's joint projects and recruitment events. Find it on Facebook as JCI Roxas Makawiwili.

JCI Roxas Sinadya

JCI Roxas Sinadya shares its name with Sinadya sa Halaran, Roxas City's December festival. It has hosted trainings such as EXCELERATE, an online course on effective meetings and project management, and partnered with Halaran on projects like Kandili mangrove planting at the Culajao Mangrove Ecopark. Learn more about the festival in our Halaran festival guide.

JCI Panitan Tumandok

JCI Panitan Tumandok is based in Panitan, a town next to Roxas City. It often joins the Roxas chapters as a co-host on recruitment events, inductions and community projects.

JCI Roxas Halaran

JCI Roxas Halaran is our chapter. The JCI Philippines National Board approved its affiliation on March 18, 2023, with JCI Roxas Makawiwili as sponsoring chapter and John Paul Sorongon as charter president. It is an all-male chapter, open to men aged 18 to 40. Its name means "offering" and recalls the Halaran Festival. Meet our current officers or read about the chapter.

How the Capiz chapters work together

Much of JCI's work in Capiz happens across chapters. A few examples from recent years:

  • Joint recruitment. Opportunity to Impact (OTI) orientations for new members are often co-hosted. In April 2025, Halaran, Makawiwili, Sinadya and Panitan Tumandok held Impact 360 at SM City Roxas.
  • Joint inductions. The Roxas chapters induct their new officers together. In February 2026, four chapters held a joint induction, where Lemuel Capa handed over Halaran's presidency to Jaime Altavas.
  • Shared projects. WaSH ME WHIP, the Area IV launch of JCI Philippines' Clean Water and Sanitation program in July 2024, had Halaran as lead host and Makawiwili and Sinadya as co-hosts. The 2026 IRONMEN Awards for fathers, at SM City Roxas, were co-hosted by Makawiwili and Sinadya too.
  • JCI Week. In April 2024, 2025 and 2026, the Capiz chapters ran JCI Week together, with fun runs, mangrove planting, a motorcade and a blood drive.

Working together lets small chapters run bigger projects, share sponsors and train new members faster.

Where JCI Roxas fits in JCI Philippines

JCI works on three levels. The Roxas chapters are local organizations. They belong to the Western Visayas region of JCI Philippines' Visayas area (Area IV), and they send members to the yearly area conference and the national convention. Above JCI Philippines is JCI itself, the international organization. Our explainer What Is JCI and How Does It Work in the Philippines? covers the full structure.

How to choose a JCI chapter in Roxas City

All the chapters are part of the same organization, so the choice comes down to fit. Ask yourself:

  • Who is it for? Check whether the chapter is open to everyone or to men or women only.
  • What causes does it care about? Look at its recent projects on Facebook or its website.
  • When does it meet? Make sure its meetings and projects fit your schedule.
  • Who do you know there? Many people join because a friend or co-worker invited them.

The easiest way to decide is to attend an OTI orientation or volunteer at a project. Our guide on how to join JCI in the Philippines walks through the steps.
