"Sa Dagat: Kabuhi Mo, Kabuhi Ko!" was a day on Baybay Beach that honored the lifeblood of the shore, its local fisherfolk. JCI Roxas Halaran organized it on June 23, 2026, at People's Park Plaza and the shoreline as a highlight of Barangay Baybay's San Juan Festival. It ran under the chapter's Black Sand Kings flagship as an implementation of the JCI RISE framework. Admission was free.

Lumba-anay sa Baybay

The boat race was a morning of modified-engine racing. Every boat captain and crew assistant was a fisherfolk from Barangay Baybay, racing their traditional kating boats in 7 HP, 12 HP and 16 HP divisions on a 3-lap course. A grand raffle, open to all participating racers, gave away a brand-new 16 HP engine.

Safety came first. Committees of over 100 people spent three weeks planning, and the chapter ran its "Gentleman's Guide Safety Protocol" across the course. The Philippine Coast Guard, Roxas City DRRMO and Philippine Red Cross were the safety, rescue and marine partners. Hot Meals on Wheels fed the committee, marshals and partner agencies. Water bottles carried CWAS QR stickers for the Blue Flow Initiative.

Pinta Baruto

At the same time, two artist groups painted two fiberglass boats donated by the Kiwanis Club of Roxas City:

  • Hamongayah sa Baybay: Saturnino P. Brodeth Jr., Cornelio A. Fernando Jr., Guillano C. Suan and Roberto C. Oquindo
  • Art Association of Capiz: Ricklyn A. Salido, Ronald G. Glemer, Gerome Jan B. Abian and Frederick V. Roldan

Before painting day, the artists went through an orientation and workshop at Green Papaya Art Projects in Dinginan with art consultant Norberto Roldan, then spent a full week studying and developing their designs.
