Project G.I.L.L.S. stands for Guiding Initiatives for Litter-Less Spaces. Its Filipino tagline is "Munting Basura, Ibulsa Muna": pocket your small trash first. It is JCI Roxas Halaran's project for cleaner coasts and barangays.
The turnover
On April 24, 2026, at 8:00 AM, the chapter officially turned over G.I.L.L.S. trash traps and solid waste management (SWM) systems to Brgy. Punta Cogon, Roxas City. The program was held at the barangay's covered court and hall. It was open to all participants and community volunteers.
The Tree Huggers Movement gave a Solid Waste Management awareness talk. The day's theme was "Caring Today, Shaping Tomorrow", which the chapter calls "not just a theme, it's a responsibility." Alongside the turnover, Hot Meals on Wheels fed the community and the volunteers who keep the coastline clean.
Part of JCI Week 2026
The turnover was the service project of the chapter's JCI Week 2026. Around the same time, President Jaime Altavas and EVP Mark Bernas talked about G.I.L.L.S. on 88.1 Spirit FM Roxas's "Tingog sang Tinuga". On air, they explained why the chapter is aiming for litter-less spaces and teased the partnership with The Tree Huggers Movement.
Proceeds from the chapter's Baia x Halaran cap fundraiser, also released during JCI Week, went to community projects such as Hot Meals on Wheels and G.I.L.L.S.
Partners
The chapter thanks Brgy. Punta Cogon for receiving the systems, and The Tree Huggers Movement for the talk.
