Oplan Kaagapay ("companion") is JCI Philippines' disaster response. When a typhoon hits, local chapters open donation drives to help affected families. JCI Roxas Halaran has activated it three times.
Typhoon Carina, July 2024
When JCI Philippines activated Oplan Kaagapay for the severe effects of Typhoon Carina, the chapter called for donations. It asked for cash, because cash lets responders buy essential supplies quickly and deliver them straight to the affected area. Donations could be dropped at Feeka Coffee + Bistro or Luna Coffee, or sent by GCash to then-Treasurer Manuel Luis Luna.
Typhoon Kristine, October 2024
For the victims of Typhoon Kristine in Bicol, the chapter collected packed food, clothing, medicines and cash. In-kind donations were dropped off at CAPA Dance Academy, with GCash donations to Lemuel Capa.
Typhoon Ramil, October 2025
When Typhoon Ramil brought heavy rain and flooding to Roxas City, the drive came home. The chapter asked for cash and in-kind donations to provide food, water and relief to affected families. Canned goods, noodles, rice, biscuits and bottled water were collected at Capa Dance Academy from October 19 to 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Getting ready before the storm
Preparedness is part of the program too. On September 3, 2025, the chapter co-hosted an Oplan Kaagapay Zoom session with JCI Quezon City Capitol. On September 9, 2025, it ran its own Zoom talk on disaster readiness, with practical ways to stay safe and prepared during calamities.
The chapter's posts do not report totals for the drives. Officers are gathering those figures.
